How the Nordic Life Guide Fit Index works

The Fit Index is an editorial decision framework. It is not an official Nordic ranking. The profiles below show the weights used to turn different priorities into a research shortlist.

Published profile weights

Skilled worker fit

The shortlist depends on profession first. Norway is strongest when salary potential and specialist sectors dominate; Denmark becomes stronger when compact city life and work-life priorities carry more weight.

Student fit

The 2025 comparative price-level data puts Finland and Sweden below Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Programme, tuition status and housing still decide the real result.

What is data and what is editorial assessment?

Comparable price claims use Eurostat's published price-level index and show the year and unit. City-rent claims on Norway comparison pages use Statistics Norway's Rental Market Survey and state the dwelling measure. Fit-profile conclusions are Nordic Life Guide editorial assessments. We do not present those conclusions as government statistics.

Limitations and update rule

A country score cannot know your exact profession, job offer, visa history, household needs or city. The profile is a shortlist generator. When a source period changes materially, the comparison pages and dataset should be reviewed before their source-checked date is refreshed.
