Nordic Life Guide English Job Access Monitor 2026
A five-country research matrix comparing how official job portals expose English-language and international vacancies without inventing a cross-country English-job count.
Nordic Life Guide analysis
What the data shows
The official job-search systems are not equally measurable. Norway supports an English working-language filter with a dated snapshot, Denmark operates an international portal where jobs are presented in English, Finland exposes working-language filters, Sweden's main Job Bank remains Swedish, and Iceland requires a smaller-market vacancy-by-vacancy approach.
Method and boundary
The monitor compares the reproducibility of the official search path itself. It only publishes counts where the official portal supports a defensible dated method and never equates English-language discovery with visa sponsorship.

Five-country English-job access research matrix
| Country | Official search path | English-access signal | What our method can prove |
|---|---|---|---|
| Norway | NAV / Arbeidsplassen | Official English working-language filter | A dated filtered snapshot can count ads/positions; it cannot prove English-only work or sponsorship |
| Denmark | Workindenmark Job Portal | Official portal states that all jobs in its international portal are in English | A strong discovery path for international applicants; each vacancy still has its own requirements |
| Sweden | Arbetsförmedlingen / Platsbanken | English guidance exists, but the main Job Bank is Swedish | Use occupation and city sampling; do not convert total Platsbanken vacancies into 'English jobs' |
| Finland | Job Market Finland | English interface plus working-language and language filters | You can reproduce an English-language search; counts vary with the chosen filters and date |
| Iceland | Directorate of Labour / Ísland.is guidance | Official newcomer job-search guidance, with a much smaller national market | Use exact vacancies and permit route; no fabricated English-only national count |
This monitor compares search accessibility and evidence quality, not 'which country speaks the best English'. A future dated vacancy sample can be added only where the official portal supports a reproducible method.
This research is published as an on-page table for readers. No public data download is provided for this research layer.
